The Story Behind the Mission
My passion for equines began in early childhood, spanning everything from pleasure riding to professional training. However, my true calling was born from frustration. After watching my own horse struggle with chronic lameness and poor hoof health, I began to question the conventional shoeing methods that seemed to prioritize human convenience over the horse’s biological needs.
Determined to find a better way, I apprenticed under a dedicated farrier who allowed me to learn the intricacies of hoof care. By applying a “horse-first” philosophy, I successfully restored my own horses to soundness, maintaining their health and movement for years.
When I reopened my training business, I was met with a silent epidemic: horses suffering from flares, splits, and severe conditions like navicular and founder. Witnessing the suffering of these animals—and the heartbreak of their owners—I expanded my services to offer a farrier practice rooted in assessment, balance, and correction. This mission led me to earn my certification at the Oregon School of Natural Hoof Care, the first institution of its kind.
Today, I am committed to the continuous advancement of farriery through ongoing education and the latest research in equine anatomy. My partner, Rick, has joined our mission, bringing a fresh perspective and a shared commitment to equine wellness. Together, we specialize in innovative flexible shoeing—technologies that enhance shock absorption, blood flow, and joint function—ensuring your horse has the foundation they need for a long, sound life.
